Compressed Air Drying and Monitoring with Low Dew Points
Artic Driers manufactures the Sahara low dew point, heatless pressure swing air dryers with SANS 347 pressure code. These desiccant-rich pressure dryers comfortably obtain pressure dew points of -40 °C. The build standard and specifications are at a high level. Smaller dryers are free standing, while bigger capacity dryers are supplied oon heavy-duty baseplates. Pre- and after-filtration can be fitted to the dryer assembly prior to despatch to suit a client’s needs.
Medical Facility Compressed Air Quality Monitoring Simplified
The specifications for a medical facility compressed air quality are contained within ISO SANS 7396 it identifies the compressed air quality and gas concentration limits in detail. It also specifies the test procedures prior to placing a medical facility compressed air system into operational use.
Solutions to Air Quality Problems
Is compressed air quality an issue in your organisation? Compressed air quality is a frequently neglected topic. But contaminated compressed air is almost as bad as no compressed air.
Two products offer solutions to these air quality problems, SUTO iTEC and the CDK range of refrigeration dryers.
Needing to know more about your compressed air consumption? We have abroad range of instrumentation focused on compressed air and gas monitoring for volume, pressure, power consumption and compressed air quality from SUTO iTEC.
Chemical Air Dryer and Filter Installations for Medical Air Applications
There are many theories on how to install air dryers; the following is a brief overview on the do’s and don’ts of air dryer and filter installation.
Like its mechanical cousin, the adsorption air dryer will suffer if installed incorrectly. In the case of chemical air dryer’s the effects show up as high dew points or mechanical problems.
When Compressed Air Quality is Critical
Compressed air quality is a frequently neglected topic. But contaminated compressed air is worse. When compressed air quality is critical two products offer solutions to these air quality problems, SUTO iTEC and the CDK range of refrigeration dryers.
Is your compressed air quality critical? A broad range of instrumentation from SUTO iTEC is available, focused on compressed air and gas monitoring of volume pressure, power consumption and compressed air quality
The Ultimate Unbreakable Compressed Air Dryer
The design of any air dryer is critical to its life span. Many dryers espcially the smaller dryers for aor compressors with capacities from 0.38 to 1.5 m³/min are built to price.
There are a number of components that make up a “normal” dryer. They are a Freon compressor, a heat exchanger to cool the compressed air to 3 °C and the finned condenser coil with its electric fan.
Total Compressor Room Control
As the cost of power escalates, the need for higher supervision levels for air compressors, dryers and air quality in general has increased dramatically, and compressor room is at the heart of your factory.
Without compressed air little production can be achieved. Loosing the compressed air supply is the same as losing your electricity or water supply!
Today knowledge is everything. Artic Driers, the sole distributor for SUTO iTEC in Southern Africa assists end users and resellers of compressed air equipment to move to the next level.
Compressed Air Monitoring Reduces Power Wastage
Load shedding focuses many engineers mind to make efficient use of the available energy, especially, if the power supply is from a generator set.
Air compressors are a major consumer of power and much of it ends up as air leaks in the factory distribution system. Energy is easily wasted by poorly performing air compressors that waste electricity and do not provide the rated air flow rates. Energy wastage is not sustainable and escalates production costs.
Ultrasonic Leak Detection
Artic Driers offers compressed air and vacuum and steam ultrasonic leak detection – this verifies the colume of the leak as well as the Rand cost of the wastage! It’s a great systematic way of quickly eliminating wasted compressed air from your system. Clients are able to purchase or hire the detector sets.
Low Dew Point Compressed Air Dryers Designed for Intelligent Automation
An innovative new range of local heatless low dew point compressed air dryers hase been introduced to the South African market by compressed air treatment industry leaders Artic Driers International.
The Sahara range of air dryers are manufactured in South Africa for the local and African markets. They cover a range from 1 to 49 m³/min at pressures from 5.5 bar to 13 bar G. The all new Sahara series features a host of innovative and patented features, this includes a simple free floating, patented shuttle valve, as well as a modular purge air orifice plate holder.
The dryers control design is super simple and only uses 2 angle seat valves to oscillate the compressed air flow between the drying and de-sorption cycles in the two pressure vessels. The dryer is assembled on a low profile skid frame making even the largest dryer in the range easy to ship in a standard height container, or very safely by road transport. The smaller models in the range are designed to lay down on the rear face for easy palletised transport.
How do you Audit a Hospital Compressed Air System?
Compressed air auditing and monitoring is no longer a luxury it’s essesntial. By not knowing the facts about your compressed air consumption and your facilities compressed air quality, you are placing patients and you distribution system at risk.
As much of 10% of all electricity generated is consumed by air compressors, and that some 50% of this energy is wasted. Air leaks alone can account for 24% of these values.
Refrigeration Air Drying for Pneumatic Applications
The compressed air quality for normal pneumatic applications can be provided by a refrigeration air dryer. This style of dryer is the most common and the least expensive purchase and is the simplest method of drying compressed air.
What does and Air Dryer Do The functionof the dryer is to remove the water and oils generated by an air compressor.
Air Quality Monitoring of Compressed Air
Protect your brand name from lasting damage. The protection of your brand name is paramount in the food industry. Loss of consumer confidence in a product or brand can wreck decades of goodwill with your customers.
The quality of compressed air supply to food production facilities is critical, as it must comply to an ISO 8573 standard when compressed air is in direct contact with food products or packaging products.
Local Build Programme - Focus on Hospital Breathing Air Dryers
The arrival of COVID-19 in South Africa was expected, but the financial ramifications were underestimated by many companies, including my own, Artic Driers.
Prior to the start of the COVID-19, and NGO called “Save-P” made contact with us and asked Artic to provide them with a locally designed Compressed Air Dryer and filter bank to provide breathing air for hospitals and clinics. This unit provides clean compressed air and oxygen mix to patients via a Cpap (Continuous positive airway pressure) mixing regulator unit.
In simple terms, the regulator mixes oxygen and dried compressed air and provides this mixture to a patient in a regulated and consistent manner dependent on the patient’s needs.
The compressed air dryer and filter casings were designed to handle up to 280 patients at a time, and within three weeks the designs were ready for a wide range of companies to build different centres around South Africa.
Can I import my own Air Dryer and Compressor?
There are many companies marketing air dryers, air compressors, filters and even air receivers to South Africa. I receive at least three emails a week offering great deals on any of these products. Some I give a few minutes to have a quick overview. Most are dumped to file 13.
There are a few reasons why caution should be exercised in terms of purchasing decisions. In many cases the equipment contains a pressure vessel. For example, the air/oil reclaimer in a rotary screw compressor is a pressure vessel. It should conform to local SANS347 standards.
Opinion Piece: Is the planet telling us something?
Has mankind just pushed our habitat a step too far? I believe so! COVID-19 has smashed all the “normalities” that we knew – the ability to travel, to have friends and families to our houses, among many others.
Not even mentioning the inability to cross our provincial borders, we have been deprived the privilege to share a glass of wine or beer with our loved ones in the comfort of our houses or at our local taverns.
Reduce Compressed Air Contamination and Extend Your Filter Element Life
High quality inline filter casings and the elements they contain, are an essential part of compressed air treatment. They are the primary defence for removing condensed water, particles, oils and vapours along with other debris, before it clogs and disables your pneumatic system.
To get the best service life from your inline filtration system the following should be observed;
- Install a simple centrifugal water separator prior to the first stage of filtration. This will remove condensed water and oils in liquid form. This reduces the work load on the remaining filters.
How to Purchase the Right Air Dryer for Your Factory
You would think buying an air dryer woyuld be easy wouldn’t you. It is if you follow the rules.
Compressed air dryers are designed to a set of standards, these are;
- A set volume as stated within the suppliers sales literature
- 7 bar working pressure
- a dew point of 3 °C
Reduce Costs with Compressed Air System Optimisation
Artic Driers International is a specialised air treatment supplier, has the largest air audit capability in the country. We have the ability to overview any compressed air system with our fully equipped Air Audit Division, stated Allen Cockfield CEO of Artic.
We offer a full spectrum of services including leak detection, flow, pressure, power and velocity monitoring. As well as dew point and oil carry over testing. We are able to monitor up to 8 compressor stations simultaneously.
Compressed Air Waste Condensate Management Made Easy
Allowing pollutants down a drain is no longer legal nor is it environmentally acceptable. ISO ratings can be lost if improper dumping is detected. Bulk oily liquid containment is messy, wastes space and increases operational costs, as waste disposal fees are expensive per litre of waste water handled.
Artic Driers range of oily waste water separators make the handling of oily waste water from compressed systems, dryers and filter’s simple clean and easy.
Cost Effective Long Term Air Dryer Hire
Compressed air users now have a cost effective option for clients when they are faced with an air dryer failure. A large fleet of high capacity air dryers is now available for medium and long term hire.
Refrigeration air dryers with capacities from 1 to 110 m³/min (3900 cfm) are available at short notice and competitive rates.
Compressed Air Treatment and the Food & Beverage Industry
Electricity, gas and water are all forms of motive power that are clean, metered and paid for. Steam and compressed air are the only power sources that are produced on a site. Often these are the most abused and expensive forms of power that are used within a factory. In food and beverage applications the compressed air quality is even more critical than many other compressed air applications.
Air Dryer Maintenance Do's and Don'ts
Refrigeration air dryers are very reliable and provided they are correctly selected for the application and installed correctly will give many years of service. Dryers have to be re-rated to operate in South Africa’s high inlet and ambient temperatures and the manufacturer’s design flow rates have to be reduced to keep the thermal load in balance. If operating pressures are lower than 7 bar this also reduces the dryer’s flow capacity.
